Not only are Horned Lizards an icon of the American Southwest, they are one of the most curiously adorned species of lizard on the planet. The sharp horns that project from the back of many species of Horned Lizard skull's are primarily a predatory deterrent. The spike-like scales that protrude from the lateral areas and other places on the lizards body serve the same purpose, yet they are mostly for show. They appear sharp but are actually like leather to the touch.

There are less than 20 species in the entire genus which is known as Phrynosoma. The initial release of this sub set includes 12 different species all displayed in fine Diamondback photography format. The backs include information on each species and a high resolution X-ray CT image of the unique skull shape and horn arrangement of lizard. In addition to the fine photography the cards themselves make use of several attractive print techniques making them a work of art in multiple disciplines. Here at Diamondback we make a lot of beautiful cards, but these may be our best yet.
