The Diamondback Trading Card Exchange is now open to anyone who requests an invitation. It is a strictly moderated group that we have set up specifically for trading Diamondback cards. Trading Diamondbacks used to occur on our Facebook page but we have set up the exchange to assure that we have more control over the environment. We hope that this new safe web environment will encourage kids to drop in and trade their Diamondback duplicates online with other kids without fear because there is no anonymity and all new members posts are moderated before they can be seen by the rest of the group. Trading Diamondbacks online is about to become easier, safer and a lot more fun! Diamondback Trading Cards is currently testing out an online format where Diamondback Collector's will be able to find one another and trade their duplicate cards in a safe, private, moderated environment. We have actually been looking into this for some time because we felt that the current trading platform on our Facebook page potentially alienates some young collector's who may not be registered or want to register on Facebook. Our new platform will be using the Google groups environment and has a much greater potential for moderation and privacy, ensuring a safe and fun trading environment. We plan to announce the opening of the Diamondback Trading Card Exchange to the public very soon.

The collation method that was being used to produce the Collector's Edition sets has recently been changed. The contents will remain the same but we have altered the insertion method to ensure that the cards issued in the Collector's Edition are as randomly selected as possible. This has also introduced the possibility that some Collector's Edition sets may have duplicates in them. However, the amount of duplicates will remain relatively small, as it was (and still is) our intention to give you as many unique cards as possible in the very popular Collector's Edition.

We have just added a new jump to link on the bottom of the left hand menu bar that will take you to the most up to date Diamondback Trading Cards checklist. This checklist will be updated as soon as new cards come off the press so that our collectors can keep tabs on exactly what cards, including base set cards, sub set cards, promo cards, auto cards and special release cards, have been so far released from Diamondback. This list is authoritative and complete and represents the official Diamondback Trading Cards list. Please feel free to download or print the list for your own records.

Herpetologist and author Kate Jackson was kind enough to send us a small stack of autographed cards this week. Dr. Jackson is a Harvard trained Herpetologist who has authored over 20 scientific papers on the subject of herpetology including 2 general audience zoology books that have been highly acclaimed. She currently teaches at Whitman College in Washington state where we sent her a few sets of our Diamondback Trading Cards to give away to her current herpetology students. We are proud to have Dr Jackson's autographs in the Diamondback Autograph Collection, and we will be giving our fans several opportunities to pick one up. Melissa Frankford is on the final stretch of completing the art for the upcoming series 'Dinosaurs'! We are really excited to release this set. While Melissa's art is scientifically accurate in structure she has an amazing ability to use color and texture to create dinosaurs in a bright and fanciful nature that is sure to delight dinosaur lovers of all ages.

All of the dinosaurs above and many more will be seen in this upcoming series which is designed to educate and inform. Each card face features an individual dinosaur and each card back has facts and details relating what modern paleontology has discovered about these incredible beasts. Stay tuned to our website. Due to many, many requests for a special packaging that includes more of our non-base set cards we decided to release exactly that. We are happy to introduce our new Collector's Edition set. This package contains 15 subset cards and 2 promotional cards that have previously not been available for sale. This is now the fastest way to collect all of our subsets. It also makes trading duplicates easier and faster because the sub-set cards will be better available. We will keep this packaging available for at least the next few months and see how it goes, but it is already selling well on the first day of release so its likely that collector's editions will become a staple here at Diamondback.

This Blanding's Turtle card was destined to become a collectors item almost as soon as it came off the press. The card face features the Field Museum of Natural History's logo and was commissioned by the Museum staff to be handed out during their member nights. It resembles the card #20 in Reptiles Series 1A but differs in having the Field Museum logos on both sides, a coated and glossy card back, slightly different text, and it features the number 1 indicating that it is the first in a series that will likely be produced for the Field Museum. All of these cards are currently in the hands of the Field Museum and as far as we know the only way to obtain one is to become a member and attend one of their member nights.

Many of you have asked for this poster to become available after an initial edition of it was posted on the web some time ago. This version has been completely reworked but still shows all the amazing variety that can be seen within the Northwestern Gartersnakes. Get a copy soon because we don't know how long we will be carrying this one.

We have just posted up the checklist for the Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma) special series that will be ready for shipment in about one week. We included 12 species (almost all of the Phrynosoma!) in this series including rarities like the Short-tailed Horned Lizard. The card backs include all the interesting facts about horned lizards including what percentage of ants are in each species diet, which species can squirt blood from their eyes in defense, which species have live birth and more! Also included is a range map showing the overall range of the horned lizards with the individual species range highlighted in red. Best of all (we think anyway) is that each card features a high resolution CT X-ray scan of the horned lizards skull so that you can see the intricate differences in skull and horn morphology between each species!

A checklist to the brand new series 'Arthropods' is now available on the arthropods page. Check out the link in the left hand column under the base sets menu. We are excited about the animals that we have included in this series and we hope it is a little something for everyone. Its definitely a great start to what will a really exciting series as we continue to add more to it.

Styracosaurus will be the very first Dinosaur Card off the press and we are only making a handful of these in our end of October press run. This card back will remain the same for the entire dinosaur series which you can look for on our website and at select retailers in early 2010.

Styracosaurus was a frilled herbivorous dinosaur that roamed prehistoric North America. Styracosaurus fossils date back to the Cretaceous Period, about 75 million years ago. It was first discovered and described around 1915 and the purpose of the horns and frills have been debated since that time. Today most agree that the frill on the skull with its intimidating horned protrusions was probably used in sexual display for the purpose of gaining herd dominance and therefore mating rights.

This amazing depiction of Styracosaurus was created by Diamondback artist Melissa Frankford by studying skeletal reconstructions. Melissa is currently working on creating an entire series of Dinosaurs exclusively for Diamondback Trading Cards. The first release in our dinosaur series will likely be announced in early 2010.

Atlantic Weasel Sharks live along the west coast of Africa in waters from one to 300 feet deep. They are fantastically colored for a shark, but you've got to get underwater to see that for yourself. Their color fades after being captured. Unlike most sharks, which are opportunistic feeders, the Atlantic Weasel Shark has a preference for cephalopods. These quick open water sharks are small usually staying under 4 feet.

This Weasel Shark is one of the many species that will be featured in our upcoming series 'Sharks' which is being produced by Jackson Shedd. Jackson uses a combination of pencil and watercolor to create the sharks for this series. Look for Sharks in early 2010.
