Company Overview

Mission:
Diamondback Trading Cards celebrates biodiversity and thus promotes conservation through the production of educational and collectible trading cards. We endeavor to create unique trading cards that not only capture the interest of children but also appeal to adults. We hope to pass the passion for natural history on to the next generation by introducing young eyes to the wonders of the Natural World. We strive to do this with excellent full color photography, dynamic original artwork, and quality card back research.

The People:
Diamondback Trading Cards is a Seattle based company created by avocational herpetologist Jeremiah Easter. The company has a very small footprint making use of only a handful of dedicated artists, editors, designers and sales staff.

Production:
Diamondback Trading Cards are manufactured according to the trading card industry standard format of 2.5 by 3.5 inches which means they will fit in standard trading card boxes, cases, holders and sleeves. They are printed on 16pt board stock which is run through a Heidelberg MOVPH 6 color press. The cards are then varnished to prevent smudging and fingerprinting, resulting in a glossy finish. All Diamondback Trading Cards series are printed in low volume press runs. When a set is sold out it is gone, never to be re-printed and that is a Diamondback Trading Card promise. Production stats for each series will be posted when they become available.

HDOP Printing:
Diamondback Trading Cards prints with High Definition On Press (HDOP) printing technology. HDOP prints with many square dots rather than the conventional round dots used on most printed material. This allows for greater accuracy in details, smoother and brighter colors and ultimately the finest images available in the print world. HDOP technology puts Diamondback Trading Cards one step ahead of most other trading card manufacturers.

Environmentally Sound Printing:
Diamondback Trading Cards are produced on recycled paper bearing the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Mixed Source certified logo. The FSC is a global  non-profit organization that ensures proper treatment of the environment, wildlife, and indigenous people. The FSC Mixed Source label ensures that the paper was manufactured making use of recycled materials, company controlled sources and sustainably managed forests. Diamondback Trading Cards are also made with vegetable based inks which means they are printed without creating Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) which are harmful gases or vapors that may be emitted by traditional petroleum based printing inks.

Packaging:
Diamondback Trading Cards are packaged in an attractive acrylic slide case that is perfect for keeping your cards safe and for display. Unlike other manufacturers that deliver their cards in flimsy sealed packages, with Diamondback you never have to buy any extra sleeves and holders for your cards unless you want to. Our case keeps your cards safe, and for kids who like to hold, read and organize their cards, this means they stay in excellent condition much longer. Each slide case of cards is called a base set and contains cards of the same series plus randomly inserted sub set cards (rare cards).

Collectible Value:
A unique aspect of Diamondback Trading Cards that appears to have been lost on most of the trading card industry is our ability to create extremely short run series and ensure their collectible value for years to come. All Diamondback Trading Cards series are printed in low volume press runs and when a set is sold out it is gone, never to be re-printed. That is a Diamondback Trading Card promise. Most of our sets are produced in quantities that are 25 to 50 times lower than that of the sports card industry. Unlike other companies' trading cards, our base cards actually have collectible value, not just our rare sub set or special insert cards.

Trading Value:
Part of the fun of collecting trading cards used to be that you could trade them with your friends to complete sets. Although many trading card companies have forgotten this model by chasing after the "investor collectors", Diamondback Trading Cards brings trading back. All of our sets come with random card inserts consisting of sub-set cards that cannot be purchased otherwise. These inserts can be combined with one another to create complete sub-sets called 'special series'. We will never sell a special series outside of this model. Our trading hub is currently located on our Facebook page. Interested traders can talk to others who may have a card they are missing and they can make the trade by mail. What could be easier and more fun than completing sub sets with other natural history fans just like you! We will always support a trading community and would prefer that our fans all trade to complete their sets rather than just buy more and more product.
